The Sales Director, Amazon will report to the VP of Sales, Canada and play an integral role in driving world class account management initiatives by working in collaboration with cross functional teams (marketing, supply chain, category management, and finance) to expand and increase our market share in Canada and exceed sales and profit targets. The Sales Director will forge strong relationships with retailer stakeholders to deliver sustained multi-year growth. This is an exceptional opportunity to join our high performing Amazon team as we continue our Canada expansion plans. The Sales Director for Amazon will be responsible for delivering the Amazon budget across Canada, this position will work closely with the Global Amazon Team to deliver the annual budget.
The Sales Director for Amazon will be responsible for managing the sales team guiding the development, implementing, and driving account specific plans & promotions in line with the Shark Ninja regional marketing strategies, focused on profitable sales growth throughout the portfolios. You will also be the internal sales lead for all category launches; building the sales plan, working with the Media teams on activation planning, Product and Brand Marketing, supply chain and training to deliver flawless launches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the day to day commercial trading relationship supporting the account manager to drive resolutions and make sure every product is delivering on a daily basis
- Support the NAM’s to build a coop plan across the Amazon estate using the strengths of Amazon to deliver activation goals
- To build a sales strategy that achieves & exceed sales and margin targets
- Pull together impact full, action driven reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
- Manage the weekly prior week sales review and produce action log and buyer feedback
- Manage the monthly consensus process with commercial finance ensuring forecast accuracy by SKU by retailer is delivered in line with business targets
- Work within agreed Promotional (SOA) to ensure sales & margin targets are met making suggestions where necessary to drive market share
- Always negotiate winning scenarios for both Shark Ninja and Amazon
- Demonstrate Best in Class account management, driving growth in Revenue and Net Margin to help us achieve and exceed our goals in Canada by developing a strategic plan to win for your business, with a clear path to achieve dynamic goals
- Lead a team of KAM/NAMs to flawless execute the tactical elements of their role, while fostering a breakthrough mindset that delivers oversized results
- Responsible for creating development plans that support your team members’ career goals and aspirations
- Ability to be a successful sales leader, acting as the “business manager “of your business, including cross-functional team leadership, financial and analytical savvy and demonstrated thought leadership on how to achieve breakthrough goals at your accounts
- Own the “big picture” but also must have the ability to drill down and own the details as needed
- Managing customer profitability for each account, working closely with Strategic Sales & Finance Teams to develop quotes for new items, and manage over & above spend at key accounts and manage ROI
- Critical decision making, based on financial analysis of multiple scenarios to drive profitable growth, often diving into the details and understanding what comprises & drives NM $ and %
- Thorough understanding of product costs, program allowances, FX, and tariffs, and the impact on the business and strategies to mitigate exposure
- Drive the strategy and own the outcome for customer meetings; leveraging support from Product Marketing, and other cross functional support areas
- Execution focused; mindful of key milestones and a demonstrated ability to create and adhere to a schedule to ensure success
- Working with the Merchandise Planner, Demand Planner and Supply Chain teams to optimize the flow of goods, including the monthly forecast cycle and long range plans
- Working with Category Management teams to report POS, trends, factors impacting the business, etc
- Developing a yearly plan and monthly forecasts by sku for key accounts working closely with the Demand Forecasting team
- Gathering and communicating competitive factors impacting the business (i.e. new competitive items, competitive promotions, etc.)
Attributes and Skills:
- Intimate knowledge of the vendor relationship, as well as other accounts in Canada; a gritty sales leader with strategic vision, execution focused, track record of overcoming obstacles, and team player not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get into the details
- Keen understanding of e-commerce sales in Canada and strategies for maximizing this channel
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills, complimented by effective oral and written communication
- Strong analytical skills to gather and analyze large sets of data
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to be able to build and maintain effective relationships
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience:
- Deep Amazon + eCommerce Expertise
- Media Agency Experience
- University degree, MBA preferred
- Prior experience in sales with consumer products/consumer durables required
- 10+ years of account management experience
- Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Additional Requirements:
- Able to travel 20% of time within assigned territory and to Boston or Seattle
