Work Period: January 2026 through June 2026

Location & Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

Compensation Range: Ranges from $28/hr - $37/hr.. Specific compensation is set according to a standardized scale aligned with your educational level at the time of hire.

 This role: Are you passionate about solving real-world problems through robotics, smart systems, and automation? Do you enjoy diving into the technical details and bringing innovative products to life? Are you curious about how sensors, motors, and code come together to create seamless user experiences? If so, we invite you to learn more about the Control Systems Engineering Co-op role at SharkNinja.

As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll contribute to the development of control systems and mechatronic solutions for our next-generation consumer products. You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside cross-functional teams to bring ideas from concept to reality. From building and tuning algorithms to testing embedded systems and supporting product validation, you’ll help engineer smarter, more intuitive devices that enhance everyday life.

Here are some of the EXCITING things you’ll get to do:

  • Design, develop, and test control systems for consumer product applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement control solutions that elevate product performance
  • Program control systems using Python, MATLAB, C++, and other platforms to enable real-time functionality
  • Design and implement control algorithms such as classical control (e.g., PID) and advanced control (e.g, MPC) for real time control applications
  • Create and maintain control system documentation, including functional specs, design specifications, test plans, and validation procedures for control systems
  • Build and prototype control systems using Arduino and other microcontroller platforms
  • Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to optimize user experience
  • Support testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement across the control development lifecycle
  • Gain exposure to the full product development process, from concept and design to launch
  • Contribute fresh thinking to design reviews and brainstorming sessions

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:

  • Education: Current student in their third year or beyond of a bachelor's program, or currently enrolled in a master’s or doctorate program
  • Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA
  • Strong understanding of control system theory and design, including classical control and advanced control.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and C++, and a strong understanding of microcontroller platforms (e.g., Arduino or similar) is preferred
  • General understanding of industrial control systems and automation with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team player with a hands-on approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to quickly generate visual and physical definitions of new products that convey key attributes of function
  • Curious, creative, and flexible with relentless drive to find better, integral solutions to everyday problems
