Senior QA Engineer

About the Role

SharkNinja is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our cloud development team and play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our IoT product ecosystem. This position offers a balanced 50/50 mix of manual and automated testing, with a focus on our innovative connected devices including robot vacuums, coffee machines, and grills.

You'll be responsible for sprint story testing and regression testing while helping mature and enhance our existing QA processes. This is an opportunity to shape quality standards for cutting-edge consumer IoT products that connect millions of customers to their devices.


Key Responsibilities

Manual Testing (50%)

  • Perform functional testing of software applications, APIs, and IoT device integrations
  • Execute user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate features meet business and customer requirements
  • Conduct exploratory testing to identify edge cases and usability issues
  • Test IoT device hardware and firmware interactions
  • Validate mobile app and cloud platform functionality across different devices and environments
  • Create and maintain detailed test cases and test plans for sprint stories
  • Document and track defects in JIRA with clear reproduction steps and severity classification
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and collaborate with developers on acceptance criteria

Automated Testing (50%)

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using TypeScript and Python
  • Build integration tests for APIs, cloud services, and IoT device communication protocols
  • Create regression test suites to ensure existing functionality remains stable across releases
  • Integrate automated tests into AWS CodePipeline for continuous testing
  • Expand test coverage across critical user flows and system integrations
  • Monitor test execution results and triage failures
  • Optimize test execution time and reliability

Process Improvement

  • Enhance and mature existing QA processes, standards, and best practices
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and recommend improvements
  • Contribute to building a more robust testing framework
  • Collaborate with the cloud development team to shift quality left in the development lifecycle

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing roles
  • Strong foundation in both manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Hands-on experience writing automated tests in TypeScript and/or Python
  • Solid understanding of integration testing, especially for APIs and distributed systems
  • Experience testing software applications and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration
  • Proficiency with bug tracking and test management tools (JIRA experience preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage testing tasks throughout the sprint cycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting defects and collaborating with developers
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing IoT devices, hardware, or embedded systems
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS services
  • Familiarity with AWS CodePipeline or similar CI/CD tools
  • Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, etc.)
  • Understanding of mobile app testing (iOS/Android)
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, pytest, etc.)
  • Background in consumer electronics or connected devices
  • ISTQB or similar QA certification

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Languages: TypeScript, Python
  • Testing Types: Integration testing, functional testing, UAT, regression testing
  • Tools: JIRA
  • CI/CD: AWS CodePipeline
  • API Testing: REST/HTTP protocols
  • Version Control: Git

Nice to Have:

  • Test Automation Frameworks: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, pytest, Jest
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, IoT Core, etc.)
  • Mobile Testing: Appium, XCTest, Espresso
  • Performance Testing: JMeter, Locust
  • Test Management: TestRail, Zephyr, or similar
  • Containerization: Docker
  • IoT Protocols: MQTT, WebSocket

What You'll Work On

You'll be integral to the quality of our IoT platform and expanding product line, including:

  • Testing cloud-to-device communication
  • Ensuring seamless integration between mobile apps, cloud services, and physical IoT devices
  • Building automated regression suites for critical user journeys (device pairing, remote control, notifications, etc.)
  • Validating API endpoints that power our connected device ecosystem
  • Conducting sprint story testing to verify new features meet acceptance criteria
  • Enhancing QA processes to improve test coverage, efficiency, and quality standards
  • Collaborating with cloud developers to catch issues early in the development cycle

 

 

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Pay Range
$81,500$126,500 USD
